New Health Project in Ecuador
Access to Medical Care for Our Second Cacao Partner in Ecuador
We are delighted to announce that our second cacao partner in Ecuador, Asociación Agro Artesanal Kallari, is now also part of our health initiative.
The project, called ‘Yanapari‘ – which means ‘The one who helps‘ in Kichwa – brings healthcare services to 304 cacao-farming families in eastern Ecuador. In total, around 1,204 people in the Tena region, a key cacao-growing area, will benefit. As in previous initiatives, we are once again pleased to rely on our trusted implementation partner, Elucid GmbH.
Many farmers in Tena face significant challenges in accessing medical assistance. Although the Seguro Social Campesino (SSC) is a public health insurance system for agricultural workers, the registration process is complex and the services provided are often incomplete – especially in emergencies, and the provision of essential medicines.
‘Yanapari‘ helps families to register with the SSC and also provides an emergency fund to cover basic urgent treatments. Mobile clinics ensure that medical care reaches even remote communities. Elucid’s platform also supports professional data management and transparent impact measurement.
This project not only contributes to better health and protection from extreme poverty, but also strengthens the resilience of farming communities – thereby enhancing the stability of our sustainable cacao supply chain.
Expected Impacts:
- Improved access to basic and emergency healthcare
- Reduced healthcare costs and treatment delays
- More stability for farming families and supply chains
- Transparent, data-driven social impact reporting
This is yet another step in our ongoing commitment to responsible value creation at origin.
We live with passion and responsibility to bring enjoyment from the origin around the world.
